Dental sealants are a great way to prevent cavities in grooves and pits of your teeth. Most of your teeth have developmental grooves and pits. Although these anatomical features make your teeth unique, they are tough for tooth brush bristles to access and clean. That is why these pits and grooves are the most common surface for tooth decay. Dental sealants seal these hard to clean pits and grooves and can greatly decrease the chance for decay in these areas. Think of it as patching natural pot holes in your teeth. Many insurance plans offer coverage for dental sealants up to a certain age (usually around 13) so give us a call and we’d be happy to check for you. Even if you don’t have coverage, you know what they say about prevention!
So if you or your children have groovy teeth, placing dental sealants may be a smart choice.
